FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

All you need to know

Welcome to Arte Actual Galería’s Frequently Asked Questions. Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions from visitors, first-time art buyers, and those interested in collaborating with us as collectors, curators, artists, or institutions.

New to the Art World?

Do I need to know about art to visit the gallery or buy a piece?
No. You don’t need to know about art to enjoy or acquire it. At Arte Actual, we believe everyone has the right to a profound aesthetic experience, even if it’s your first time visiting a gallery. Our team can guide you without pressure and help you find pieces that resonate with you.

What does it mean when a piece is “unique” or “limited edition”?
A unique work is an original, one-of-a-kind piece. If it’s a limited edition (for example, a silkscreen print or lithograph), it means the artist produced a controlled number of signed copies, and no more will ever be made.

Can I get help choosing a piece if I’m unsure?
Yes. We can offer personalized advice based on your taste, space, budget, or level of collecting experience.

Can I give art as a gift?
Absolutely. Art can be a highly meaningful gift. We can help you choose the right piece and deliver it with a certificate and professional packaging.

Do the works come with a certificate of authenticity?
Yes. All our works include a certificate of authenticity issued by the artist or by Arte Actual Galería.

About Our Works

What kind of art do you sell?
We sell original works of contemporary art—mainly paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, objects, and installations. We do not work with decorative or mass-reproduced art. Our focus is on works for collectors, museums, cultural institutions, and audiences interested in art with strong aesthetic and conceptual rigor.

What is the price range of the works?
We offer a wide range: from accessible graphic works starting at $3,000–5,000 MXN to unique large-scale pieces exceeding $500,000 MXN. We have works for all levels of collecting, from first-time buyers to those seeking investment or museum-quality pieces.

What style are the works?
Our pieces tend to be thoughtful, intense, and deeply human. We do not focus on purely “decorative” works or those that simply offer “visual peace,” but rather pieces with strong aesthetics, technical weight, and critical content. Some may provoke discomfort, others invite contemplation—but all hold real artistic value.

What kind of artists do you represent?
We work with contemporary Mexican artists of different generations and disciplines—painters, printmakers, sculptors, illustrators, and draftsmen—ranging from emerging to mid-career and established. Some have international recognition and are part of institutional collections, while others are in the process of consolidating their careers nationally.

Is all your art available online?
No. Only a curated selection of our pieces is available in our online store. We have over 800 works in inventory, many of which are not publicly listed and are offered only through private visits or exclusive events.

Can I book a visit to see works in person or try them at home?
Yes. We can welcome you to the gallery by appointment, and we also offer a “work on view” service—bringing pieces to your home so you can see them in place before making a decision.

About the Gallery and Its History

Is the gallery open to the public?
Yes, our exhibitions are open to the general public free of charge during regular hours. We also organize special events or private openings for VIP members and collectors.

What exhibitions do you present and how long do they last?
We present temporary exhibitions of represented artists and special collaborations. Exhibitions generally last between 4 and 8 weeks, although some works or events continue afterward in other formats, such as guided experiences or private activations.

What is the Guillermo Sepúlveda Collection? Is it on display?
Yes. The gallery’s private collection—which includes historical, contemporary, and heritage works—is featured in collective or thematic exhibitions. Some pieces are available for purchase under very selective conditions, offered only to certain collectors or during exclusive events.

Are pieces from that collection for sale?
Yes. Some works from the Guillermo Sepúlveda Collection are available to collectors, but only under private agreements and at specific times.

Is there a minimum age to visit the gallery?
No. The gallery is open to all ages, though some exhibitions may contain conceptual or visual content we recommend contextualizing with adult guidance.

How can I become part of the VIP guest circle or get priority access?
Our circle of collectors and exclusive members consists of people who have purchased works, attended regularly, or collaborated on gallery projects. If you’d like to be considered, you can send us a message with your interests or start by attending public events and exhibitions.

About Artists and Collaborations

Can I send my portfolio as an artist?
Our artist selection is mainly by invitation, curator recommendation, or from past collaborations. While we do not hold open calls, you may send your portfolio as a reference to info@arteactual.art. We will only review it if there is curatorial interest and availability in our schedule.

Do your artists work on commission?
In some cases, yes, but it depends on the artist and type of work. Contact us to see if one of our artists accepts commissions, and we’ll guide you based on your idea and budget.

Do you work on consignment?
Only in very specific cases, and exclusively with institutional clients or VIP collectors with whom we have a direct relationship. We do not operate as a public consignment house or manage third-party works openly.

Do you sell secondary market works?
Yes, but exceptionally and only for pieces validated by our director. These transactions are handled privately, under confidentiality agreements, and based on authenticity, provenance, and artistic relevance.

Do you represent artists exclusively or work by project?
Both. Some artists are permanently represented; others we work with on a project or series basis. In all cases, we ensure the relationship is ethical, professional, and sustainable.

Do you have exclusivity contracts with your artists?
It depends on the artist and the agreement. Not all of our artists work under exclusive contracts, but all our agreements prioritize commitment, trust, and mutual promotion.

About the Online Store and Purchases

How do I buy a work from the online store?
Select the piece, click “Buy,” and follow the steps to complete your payment. After purchase, we’ll contact you directly to coordinate shipping, packaging, and any additional costs if applicable.

Does the online price include VAT and shipping?
No. Published prices do not include VAT, payment commissions, insurance, packaging, or shipping. These are quoted and charged separately, as they vary depending on destination, size of the work, and payment method.

Do you offer shipping insurance?
Yes, and we especially recommend it for valuable or fragile works. Insurance is optional and at the buyer’s expense. If you choose not to insure the work, you assume full responsibility for loss or damage in transit.

Can I pay in installments or interest-free months?
In general, we do not offer installment payments. In exceptional cases, and for certain frequent clients, we may negotiate special conditions. Contact us directly.

For Curators, Collectors, and Institutions

Do you have experience working with museums or institutional collections?
Yes. We have collaborated with local, national, and international institutions. We can advise on curatorial processes, loans, acquisition routes, museography, or interpretative content.

Do you offer appraisals or valuations for third parties?
We do not offer public appraisals. We can privately and confidentially advise on buying and selling processes within our network, but we do not issue official appraisals or assessments for works outside our representation.

Do you handle works by deceased artists?
Yes. We have works by historical and deceased artists, especially from the Guillermo Sepúlveda Collection, which in certain cases are offered for sale under very selective criteria.

Can I consult the gallery’s exhibition history?
Yes. Part of our curatorial history can be viewed at www.arteactual.art, and you can also request an institutional dossier if you are conducting academic or institutional research.

Can I propose an institutional or curatorial collaboration?
Yes. If you are a curator, cultural manager, or institutional representative, you can write to us with a concrete proposal. We value well-founded, interdisciplinary collaborations.

Do you have publications, catalogs, or critical texts on exhibitions?
Yes. Many of our exhibitions are accompanied by curatorial texts, publications, or press dossiers. We are also working on a broader archive section.

Invoicing, Return Policy, and Other Services

Can you issue an invoice for my purchase?
Yes, but you must request it within the fiscal month in which the purchase was made. Email us at admin@arteactual.art with your full tax details.

Do you have a return policy?
No. All sales are final. As the works are unique pieces, we do not accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations.

Do you offer advice for hanging or framing works?
Yes. We can help you choose the best mounting or framing option and even coordinate it with professional workshops.

Do you offer private experiences, guided tours, or personalized events?
Yes. We can design private events (cocktails, sensory experiences, curatorial tours, artist meet-and-greets) for companies or collectors. Contact us to explore the options.

Can I rent the gallery for a private event?
It depends. The space is not primarily intended for rentals; however, some special experiences organized by the gallery may include closed groups or collaborations with brands aligned with art and culture.

Do you partner with architects, designers, or firms?
Yes. We collaborate with architects, interior designers, and developers who wish to integrate art into their spaces or projects. We can prepare client presentations or create specific selections by request.
