Sobre el artista
In the work of Alberto Vargas, the clean profiles, the upright structures, the smooth surfaces, the materials that demand smooth shafts and cipuses, and the erect finishes of the height that he proposes, even in which the rules that he has previously established are broken. , they have the sense of longing. Evoke and remember are the key words in his sculptural alphabet. They are not buildings or traces of buildings, nor are they ruins, but they evoke the ancient architecture of the Greeks and Romans or other areas. These structures wear out the useless remains and, in their neatness, suggest and insinuate this history. The sculptor promotes this encounter with other worlds. That is why their titles, although sometimes sibylline, bring up myths. With these ingredients, Vargas builds his suggestions and invites us to participate in his adventure: he hints that it can also be ours.

Alberto Vargas never stops exploring variables in a way that other artists might have already taken for granted. He is an insatiable geometer. His formal curiosity has something of scientific exploration, rigor and imagination. Explore the life of vertical forms and experience their limits, their possibilities.
