Enrique Monraz

About the artist

Born on May 13, 1962, he showed a keen interest in drawing and color from an early age. At 13, he asked an aunt, who also painted, to take him to painting classes. He attended for four years, during which time he completed 18 works.

After completing high school, he enrolled at the Bribiesca Art Institute, where he studied for two years and produced several oil paintings, addressing themes such as still life, landscapes, Mexican scenes, and portraits.

In 1985, he embarked on a trip to Europe with the aim of studying and coming into direct contact with the great works of classical painting. He studied in Perugia, Italy, and traveled to various countries on the continent, visiting important museums and enriching his artistic training.

Upon his return to Mexico, he continued his training at the Cabañas Cultural Institute, where he completed two more years of artistic studies.

In 1993, he began to develop his own language, exploring his creative individuality and actively participating in the artistic world through exhibitions and competitions, in some of which he won awards.

Over time, his work has matured into a figurative and expressionist style, characterized by the fusion of multiple visual elements that, together, create an aesthetic with a strong Baroque tendency, where anything is possible and each form finds meaning when integrated with the others.
