About the artist
In the Flesh
For years, I have followed with interest the evolution of his work, leading up to his most recent production. His forms over time have defined a language in a way that is surprising in its rigor, maturity, and capacity for risk. His understanding of different materials and the mastery of them achieved through periods of arduous testing and experimentation have allowed him to venture confidently and choose the appropriate medium for each of his projects. Stones (marble, granite, alabaster) as the ideal support are accurately classified by their specific qualities (color, hardness, texture, and size).
The woods (mesquite, mahogany, cedar, etc.) are found objects, located through exhaustive exploration and research at their original sites. The artist selects them for their evocative forms, following their vision. They are then transported to the workshop for a detailed analysis of their state of conservation, salvageable forms, and possible interventions. Her workshop, with minor limitations, has all the tools and technology necessary to carry out the different processes.
The artist's direct intervention in the materials allows for the highest fidelity of emotional recording in her search and encounters in the creative process.
The finish on each of his works requires extreme polishing, respecting the natural appearance of the materials, and a specific coating for the necessary protection against deterioration.
The diversity of solutions at every angle allows these works to achieve unity and balance, even when the bases on which they rest are created specifically, rather than as a complement, as an ideal support.
Organic, tactile, semi-/abstract forms, metamorphoses of sensuality, eroticism, and spirituality, capture the viewer's attention with their multiple and suggestive curvilinear rhythms. A kind of psychosexual drama is embodied in each composition and transformation of the objects (wood/marble), a poetic or irrational association revealed.
